Summer Reading Adult Book Review: The Promise of a Pencil

The Promise of a Pencil Book Title: The Promise of a Pencil

Author: Adam Braun

Review: Adam Braun takes readers on a cross continent journey to discover himself and to challenge his notion of what purpose, success, and accomplishment truly are. Unfulfilled by society’s definition, Braun gives up his uber successful job at Bain and Company to start Pencils of Promise, a not-for-profit (or “for-purpose” as he calls it) organization to build schools in impoverished countries around the world. With an initial deposit of only $25, Braun propels the organization into a movement that to date has built more than 200 schools in less than five years, with no end in sight. An easy, inspirational read that I highly recommend.
