February at the Roselle Public Library District
February is a beginning to an end. As the month passes, snow starts to melt into rain, clouds start to yield to sunshine, and wintry moods start to mellow, because spring is on the way!
So are 28 days of programs and events, from the ever-popular Musical Sunday to sessions exploring the art of making the right decisions and venturing through the streets of Rome.
Let's start with Read to a Dog, February 8, 15, and 22, 4-5P, an opportunity to improve self-confidence and sharpen reading skills while bonding with a certified therapy dog. Bring a favorite book or read from our selection of great titles. For ages 5 to 12. Registration for 15-minute sessions is required in-person at the Youth Services Ask Me Desk or by phone at 630.529.1641 ext. *351.
The next week, join us for Afternoon Movies at the Library, February 16, 1:30-4P. We'll provide the popcorn, space, and screen for a showing of The Girl on the Train, starring Emily Blunt. No registration required.
Three days later, say halo and powitanie to Let's Read in Polish!, February 19, 3:30-4P, a special storytime in Polish presented by Laura Kaczmarczyk and the Sister Cities Group. You'll make a craft, too! For ages 0-6, accompanied by a parent or caregiver. Registration is required through our online calendar or by phone at 630.529.1641 ext. *351.
Have you ever made a decision you regretted? Have you ever waited when the proper course was to take action? Have you ever taken action was the proper course was to wait? During The Art of Making the Right Decisions on February 20, 7-8:30P, life coach Tom Wendt will provide techniques to help you make the right decisions to advance your life and reach your goals. Registration is required through our online calendar or by phone at 630.529.1641 ext. *222.
We know winter can feel restrictive, limiting your time outdoors and the number of places you visit in a day. With Eternal Rome on February 23, 7-8P, take a trip with world traveler Ralph Danielsen to the grand fountains and piazzas of Rome.
Uncover 25 centuries of history as Mr. Danielsen guides you through the Coliseum, St. Peter's, Trevi Fountain, and the Spanish Steps, plus Tivoli's incredible villas and Ostia, Rome's ancient seaport. Registration is required through our online calendar or by phone at 630.529.1641 ext. *222.
Keep your intellectual journey going with Musical Sunday, February 26, 1:30-3P. Acclaimed harpist Joy Yu Hoffman celebrates Valentine's Day with classical, romantic, and impressionistic music, plus fifties and sixties pop. Grab a cup of complimentary coffee and a cookie, too. No registration required.
On February 28, the library will open early at 7A to accommodate those voting in the Consolidated Primary Election for the nomination of Municipal and Wayne, Winfield, and Naperville Township Republican candidates. The polls will close at 7P. To learn more, visit dupageco.org/election.
And that's the end of the beginning. Next month, we may find warmer temperatures and buds on the branches, but we'll definitely find more great programs and events here at your library.
