Summer Reading Book Review - Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Book Title: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Author: J. K. Rowling

Reviewed By: Maria C.

This book is a very captivating read, continuing the story of Harry Potter, a teenage boy wizard, as he enters into his fifth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It adds onto the events of the last book, with the magical British government not believing Harry’s claims of evil rising, and Harry having to trust himself and his friends instead. I loved the character development in this book, as the main characters and villains grow to be better (or more sinister) yet also complex. The author is very detail-oriented, emphasizing on both humor and haunting background stories to successfully connect the plot in the present to events that occurred in the past. The way that the author explores the concept of growing up in a world full of magic and mayhem intrigues the reader to keep reading until the very last page.

Why you picked it up: I love Harry Potter, and wanted to reread the series, especially this particular one because it is so complex yet really provoked deep thought into what the characters are experiencing and how they all impact one another.

Why you finished it: It was very intriguing, and I desired to uncover the mystery of Harry’s odd dreams and their connection to the evil that is happening in their magical within the non-magical community.

Who you would recommend it to: I would recommend this book to anyone interested in captivating stories about bravery, friendship, mystery, and-of course!-magic.
