Summer Reading Book Review - The Word is Murder

Book Title: The Word is Murder

Author: Anthony Horowitz

Reviewed By: Julie J.

Are you looking for a traditional British cozy mystery or police procedural? Then, The Word is Murder is not the book for you. However, if you are looking for an innovative British mystery, then you will want to check out this standalone mystery from Anthony Horowitz, best known for writing the TV series Foyle's War. Nothing like Foyle's War, The Word is Murder is the story of a socialite, Diana Cowper, who plans her own funeral and is murdered a few hours later. The question is did she plan her own murder or was it a coincidence? Horowitz himself appears as a character in the novel working with an unconventional private detective, named Hawthorne, to solve the mystery.
